The homeschooling department at TLPK was established in 2017 with one student and reached its full size by the end of 2021. It now provides a\u00a0well-structured<\/b>\u00a0homeschooling experience for approximately\u00a0150 families<\/b>. The language of operation at TLPK is\u00a0Estonian<\/b>.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/div>
The HSD at TLPK provides:

\u00a0<\/p>

\u2013 a supportive\u00a0community<\/b>, including a monthly support group meeting for home schooling parents, a closed Facebook group, mailing list, traditional homeschoolers\u2019 autumn day in Tartu, regular gatherings and study trips for homeschoolers;
\u2013 supervised\u00a0co-learning<\/b>\u00a0days and support for parent-initiated co-learning;
\u2013\u00a0\u00a0advice\u00a0<\/b>and services of homeschooling coordinators and support specialists;
\u2013 ready-made form for drafting the individual\u00a0curriculum<\/b>;
\u2013\u00a0counseling\u00a0<\/b>on setting up, organizing and enhancing the homeschooling experience;
\u2013\u00a0instructions\u00a0<\/b>for compiling and submitting the portfolio;
\u2013 interviews and\u00a0summative\u00a0<\/b>assessment once in a half-year;
\u2013\u00a0assistance\u00a0<\/b>in evaluating the achievement of learning goals, and planning for the next half-year.<\/p>

Additional service (for a monthly fee) includes:<\/p>

\u2013 list of weekly or monthly\u00a0activities\u00a0<\/b>compatible with national learning objectives;<\/p><\/div>

\u2013 online supervised meetings for\u00a0homeschoolers\u00a0<\/b>twice a week;
\u2013 monthly supervision for\u00a0parents<\/b>;
\u2013\u00a0recommendations\u00a0<\/b>for individualisation of learning activities;
\u2013 recommendations for the involvement of support professionals or private teachers.

Evaluation of homeschoolers in Estonia:<\/p>

According to Estonian legislation, the school is required to\u00a0monitor\u00a0<\/b>the achievement of national learning objectives. At TLPK, this is done via the development discussion and summative assessment interview once in a half-year where the homeschoolers present their study\u00a0portfolio\u00a0<\/b>which includes:
\u2013 physical learning materials (exercise books, workbooks, training or nutrition or other diaries, handicraft, works of art, etc.);
\u2013 learning materials in digital environments (eg tasks done and recorded in digital textbooks, training or nutrition or other journals, app statistics in smart devices);
\u2013 text, photo, video, audio or other files illustrating some of the learning objectives (art and craft projects can also be photographed, musical activities recorded into audio or video files, etc.);
\u2013 lists of books, films, tv-programmes, series, etc;
\u2013 links to websites, videos, video channels, etc;
\u2013 weekly tasks uploaded in the online environments (for families who have chosen this option).<\/p>
